When people find out I'm a magician, they always ask what I'm doing in Los Angeles. "Aren't you supposed to be in Vegas?", they say. It's funny. I've lived in Los Angeles my entire life. The truth is, if I didn't live in L.A., I probably wouldn't be a magician.
The Magic Castle in Hollywood really made it possible for me to become the performer I am. It's the home of magicians world-wide. It's a cauldron of all things magical. An incredible venue where a magician can work out new material.
And, there's something about seeing every magician in Los Angeles performing shows under one roof that gives you some perspective on what it's all about. I don't think I would have grown as quickly as a magician if I lived in Nebraska.
So, Vegas is nice, but I wouldn't want to live there. The only thing I enjoy more than visiting Vegas is leaving Vegas.
Being a Los Angeles magician just means you have to create your own show venue. 3 years ago, I did that with my "Evening of Enchantment", and I've been performing my full-length show in Malibu ever since.
In many ways, it's even cooler than the Magic Castle. The event combines ocean views, candle light, flowers, wine tasting, and my full-length show in an extraordinary sea-side venue.
I'm proud to say that it's the longest-running one-man magic show of any magician in Los Angeles. The show has been selling out for nearly 3 years.
So, unlike the magicians in Vegas, I have the best of both worlds. I can do my show for appreciative audiences and then drive home... all in a town where I grew up.
That's right... Los Angeles, California, baby.
